Morden 6n6 Aquathlon

Held on: Sun 13th May 2007

Supported By Trek

On 13th May Morden Park Hall celebrated its 6th year of hosting an aquathlon run by Kingfisher Triathletes in association with Z-Tri. Over 120 competitors swam in the 33m pool and ran in the picturesque and tough offroad course. This year saw a novice race, Morden 3n3 run alongside the main event, the Morden 6n6. The race was the second in the London League series won by Thames Turbo (based on provisional results).

In overcast skies and with a pattering of rain making spectating and marshalling a tour de force, established local star of the triathlon scene, Euan Lees (Ful-on Tri), won his third race here by completing the 600m swim, and 6 mile run in a rapid 42 mins 37secs chased to the line by Dion Harrison (Thames Turbo) in 42mins 42s; the first woman home was Esther Evans (Thames Turbo) in 46mins 31s equalling the women's course record previously held by Kate Balchin.

The event also attracted a number of novices to triathlon, and the winner of this category was Simon James, who was home in a very credible 30 mins 46 secs with first novice woman home Lara Haywood in 32 mins 39 secs.
