The Club's coaching team has put together a Club Training Programme for the coming year.
The programme will cover all 3 Disciplines and is periodised to the main race season of June, July and August.
Swim Training
The programme continues to develop the popular Monday swim sessions. Everybody who is committed to improving their swim over the winter should definitely consider regular attendence. Details of each months sessions will be contained in the Monthly training update sent to all members.
The Wednesday swims are popular and compliment the Monday session. A great venue and ideal opportunity to get experience in the race pool for those taking on the Hampton Tri and Aquathlon series.
Open Water swimming is available at two great venues. Heron Lake and Liquid Leisure. Club members are there every week from April through to September. We have been running novice open water aquaints for club members who are new to open-water swimming throughout May and June.
It's also worth reminding yourself our stated swim etiquette,
Swim Etiquette
to ensure we enjoy the swim sessions as much as possible.
Run Training
The club will be utilising the Bushy Park Time Trial series as the backbone of it's run training. One week each month will be dedicated a social run to encourage all-comers, with a coffee afterwards. One week will be dedicated monthly as the club benchmark session where club times will be collated and recorded and used to chart progress and decide the Clubs Most Improved Runner at the end of the season.
Details of forthcoming Road racing, Cross countries, Orienteering events and Adventure races will be included in the Monthly updates.
Bike Training
The Turbo session, will continue to run on a Thursday evening at the Hawker Center, Lower Ham Road, Kingston, KT2 5BH , 7.30-8.30pm. The sessions will be suitable for all abilities and we we encourage EVERYBODY who seeks to improve their bike times to turn up and give it a go.
The Club has invested in 6 turbo trainers which can be borrowed by members for a small fee of £1 per session. These will be lent out on a first come first served basis.
Tuesday nights saw a regular organised chain gang, riding 3-laps of Bushy Park. This was an 8-week block of training specifically to build cycling strength in the late pre-season.
Sunday Riding
The Sunday rides will continue in their current social format. Meet 9am at Hampton Court British Rail for a ride of 40/50 miles out into Surrey - usually including a tea stop. Day and time stay the same all year.
We will be running the once a month all-comers social ride. The plan will be to have a large (we hope) club group riding a set route to a designated turn around (and cuppa). The emphasis is on fun and a get together for as many as the club as we can. Details of each months ride will be contained in the Monthly training update sent to all members.
Run-Bike-Runs
These sessions will continue in the summer months. They will be on alternate Tuesday evenings at Richmond Park (Kingston Gate end). Once the dates for these are finalised they will appear in the Monthly training update sent to all members.
Training Events
If anybody has any specific training events they would like to see the club's involvement in then please email coach so that we can look into their feasibility.
If you have any questions about the programme, the sessions or training in general let any of the clubs coaches know at coach
